“Glamlet” (or "The Sun Was Out, So We Died Inside”) is a radical, collaboratively devised reimagining of Shakespeare's "Hamlet", co-directed by NYC-based Equity actor Rhiannon Ling as a queer, female Hamlet and composer Krishan Oberoi (aka Renoir Kobashi), a Yale alum whose musical "Best Time To Be Alive" was hailed by "Hamilton" star Lexi Lawson as “euphoric, magical… a masterpiece in the making.” Blending Shakespeare’s text with original songs and raw ensemble commentary, “Glamlet” is a punk exorcism of grief, gender, and identity. A diverse cast of artists- across ethnicity, gender, and orientation- rehearses "Hamlet" for one strange summer, only to unravel into something stranger: a cathartic, haunting basement opera about performance, collapse, and becoming. It’s Shakespeare like you’ve never seen: accessible, intimate, and gloriously alive
